Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 29, 2026
1. Introduction
Buganalyst ("we," "us," or "our") provides a bug report widget and related services. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose information when you use our website, dashboard, embeddable widget, and API. It applies to both account holders ("customers") and to end users who submit bug reports through a widget on a customer's site ("end users").
2. Information we collect
Account and dashboard users
When you sign up or use the dashboard, we collect: email address, name (if provided), password (stored in hashed form), and account and widget configuration (e.g. widget names, domains, Slack or Trello settings). If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g. Google), we receive the identifier and profile information that provider shares. We also collect usage and log data (e.g. IP address, browser type, pages visited, actions in the dashboard) to operate and improve the Service.
End users (bug report submitters)
When someone submits a bug report through a widget embedded on a customer's site, we collect and process the information that the customer's widget is configured to capture. This typically includes: the report title and description, the page URL where the report was submitted, viewport size, user agent (browser/device info), and optionally email or other fields the customer adds. If the customer enables file upload, we may store screenshots or other files attached to the report. This data is processed on behalf of the customer who owns the widget.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve the Service; authenticate users and manage accounts; store and deliver bug reports to the destinations you configure (e.g. Slack, Trello); send transactional or product-related communications; detect and prevent abuse or security issues; comply with legal obligations; and as otherwise described in this policy or with your consent. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for advertising.
4. Sharing and disclosure
We may share data: (a) with service providers that help us operate the Service (e.g. hosting, analytics, payment processing), under contractual obligations to protect data; (b) with the third-party integrations you configure (e.g. Slack, Trello), according to their respective privacy policies; (c) if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property; (d) in connection with a merger, sale, or other transfer of assets, with notice where required. We do not share end-user report data with other customers or for marketing.
5. Data retention
We retain account and widget data for as long as your account is active. Bug reports and related data are retained according to your plan and our operational needs; you can delete individual reports from the dashboard. After account closure, we may retain data for a limited period for backup, legal, or fraud prevention purposes, then delete or anonymize it where feasible.
6. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (e.g. TLS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security and you use the Service at your own risk.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update account details in the dashboard and request deletion of your account or data by contacting us. If you are an end user who submitted a bug report, your data is controlled by the site owner who embedded the widget; contact them for requests regarding that data. We will respond to valid requests in accordance with applicable law.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g. local storage) for authentication, session management, and to remember preferences. We may use analytics or advertising partners that set their own cookies; you can manage cookie preferences in your browser. Our website may contain scripts from third parties (e.g. analytics or ad networks) subject to their privacy policies.
9. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place where required by law (e.g. standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions).
10. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us so we can delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated by email or a notice in the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
